Members jb1911
Anyone try both of these? I had an OCD when they first came out and was very dissapointed. It didn't sound any better to me than a Boss DS-1. Does the FDII sound anything like the OCD?
Members gregovertone
FD2 is great. the green can to a nice glassy clean boost, to a ts9-ish overdrive. the boost can add some great gain, or just do a nice lead boost. the ocd was sooooo scooped, it sound like the eq was set at 10-0-10. the new ones are suposed to have more mids, but people are saying it is best just as a low gain drive. ill stick w/ my fd2. Members surfcat
They don't sound alike. I have the FD II and really like it. I tried the Ocd and it's a cool pedal but I didn't feel like I needed it enough to pay what it cost. The FdII is cool for single coils in the fm and vintage settings and good for humbuckers in the comp cut mode, plus it has a boost. It doesn't exactly nail a TS808 sound but it's still very good, while a real TS808 sounds like butt with humbuckers imo. I got a Barber Direct Drive which I believe is similar sounding to the Ocd and a lot less $$-spent $65 for a used one. I really don't use it as much as I though I would-I used the FDII mostly.
