Common wah problem?

My Teese Picture Wah is messed up.

When I turn it on, it slightly wahs, but mostly it becomes a volume pedal from silent to about 25% volume. :freak:

This has happened to me before. It happened to a Vox wah I once had that I just never got fixed.

I'm determined to figure out the problem and fix it.

It has a brand new battery that tested out in another pedal, all other pedals in the chain work great, and its not the cables.

What's up?

It's a capacitor. The same thing happened with my Crybaby 535Q.

I found out which one it was and soldered in a new one, which solved the problem. I guess it's the cap that controls the sweep, and when it dies, your crybaby basically turns into a {censored}fest of a volume pedal. badtimes.

Look up crybaby circuits online, and figure out where exactly the cap is in your circuit, and then look for one with the right resistance and you should be set. Here is a great link that helped me figure it out - it shows the problems that occur with each component, and the problem you are experiencing is in there. . .
