Members Andre XXX Posted July 14, 2006 Members Share Posted July 14, 2006 Well I cant compare it to other el84 amps for you ( except maybe a peavey classic 30 that a buddy of mine has - I think those those have el 84's - if so the lone star sound much better ). But I will tell you I love mine. I have both the LS classic and the special and I use the special much more. It just cuts through the mix better and has a better all around vibe than the classic. And it has plenty of power........i use mine with a loud drummer and rarely get he master past 10 - 11 oclock ( I do mike it through a PA at gigs ). I get plenty of clean headroom As for chime - I didn't know what chime was until I got this amp...when I first put my strat in the two and four positions and heard that bell like tone and chime.........I finally knew what people meant by that term ! This amp excels with single coils but still sounds very good with humbuckers as well. I recently got a gibson 335 that is becoming my main guitar through this thing. Check out the video on this page - I don't know of any other amp that can nail tones like these.
