Members hyperstationjr
Hey guys, I'm at work with a dilemma... We're running a Pro Tools HD system, and our iLok just snapped... the whole USB insert snapped right off of the plastic casing. No one here is crafty enough to solder it back, so what do we do? Pace and iLock havn't been very helpful, so I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem and solved it. Any info, links or advice would be greatly appriciated. I also posted in the Recording forum, but it ususally takes a while to get an answer 'round them parts, and right now the quicker the better... Guest Anonymous
I have soldered/repaired about 5 iLok's.There are only 4 wires to repair which is no big deal. You will need:(4) 1" wire jumpersrazor knife1/2" heatshrink or tapesoldering Iron Careful cut the iLok casing in half at the seamSolder the wire jumpers onto the circuit boardSolder the wire jumpers onto USB connectorIf the solder tabs are to short they can be pushed out a little from the inside of the USB connectorUse heatshrink or tape to hold the iLok back together This is a great solution until a new iLok can be bought and registered

At ilok.com there is a "RMA process" (under the "Help" menu)https://www.ilok.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/iLokManager.woa/17/wo/gzCrtCi7H0h83GWsttK3Rw/2.0.11.11 I assume one can send your iLok in for repair or replacement.
