Members bri6672
I posted a thread like this in recording and thought it would be better suited over here. I am in need of a really cheap (under $100) way to add effects to vocals. Anyone have any reccomendations?
Members beezdeez
Could you give a little more info such as what effect and what kind of setting? Because if you want the effect for recording, just use effects built into the recording software. You can get some plugins to do some wicked cool {censored}. Members ScreamCage
Ibanez LF7 and DE7. both pretty good for vocals and guitar. Some of the Dano Minis (especially the echo) are good for vocals too.

Members Wilbo26
If you need lots of stuff, maybe just look at some of the cheaper processors from Zoom or Korg.

Well I am not using computer recording I have a Fostex mr8 with a flash card. My vocals really suck so I am hoping to doctor them with some chorus etc. and some reverb. I was going to get a cheap mixer to adjust the lows mids and highs.
Members bri6672
Can I use guitar effects? I have a gt6 and never thought to try that.

Members bri6672
So if I use one of these guitar effects like the magicstomp how would that work with an xlr mic connector do I just buy a convertor?
Members stereotypy
xlr to jack (there are cables like that in every good music shop) into the guitar effects. then to a d.i. box after all teh effects(!! important to get rid of noise!) from there you are with xlr again. Members Klisk
+1 for Magicstomp. A lot of vocalists use it now. The only other thing you might ever want is a sonic maximizer, but in my opinion it's not necessary for live sound.
Members stereotypy
a d.i. box is something you must have already seen if you ever gigged! it is a ground lifter and something more.. but well. it is a little box with a jack input (unbalanced) and a xlr output (balanced). it divides your signal from signal destroying parts that causes hum. my english is not the best but maybe you get the picture. you use it on stage for pianos, acoustic guitars and bass. it is a simple little box that can be very effective. and it is really necessary for that.. ! Members stereotypy
http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_palmer_pan_01_prodinfo.html that is the one i am using. there are differences in cheap and good ones. so maybe avoid behringer as usual. (though they might do the trick for a while for you, you never know if and when they stop).
Members bri6672
Ok got the direct box thing figured out! It sounds like the magicstomp is the way to go. I see that they make a guitar version and an acoustic version. Is there one better than the other or will they both work?
Members stereotypy
both will work, but obviously the effects in the acoustic version are more for acoustic guitar whereas the effects in the electric guitar version are more for e-guitar. the crazier stuff is probably in the e-guitar box..
