Members pink floyd cramer
It won't take much to scare me away from trying this, as I am not accomplished technically. But I would like to not be at the mercy of a greedy, overpriced Hammond tech. Anybody ever do this?
Members mate_stubb
Which one do you mean? There is a matching transformer sitting inside a can behind the manual that is pretty easy to get to. If you mean transformers in the preamp, they are also easy to get to if you take the preamp out of the organ. You would have to unwire the old one (taking careful notes), dismount the transformer (rivets or bolts - I'm not near my organ right now), then reverse the process. Also you would have to get exact replacement parts, which should be possible online.
Members pink floyd cramer
I do not have the organ home yet so I do not know which one, all I was told is that the organ (A-100) had a low output but worked until a tech replaced the tubes. The tech said the part cost $125, and I'm sure he would add $100 more for labor.. but better that than to catch my beautiful organ on fire. Maybe i could get a better idea of what is involved by looking at my L-series organ? That is if they are in any way similar. Tahnks.
