Members Zlandicar
I grabbed one of these after hearing so many great things about it, but after testing it out I've concluded the following: - Either it really sucks, or - I got a bad one. This is the quietest distortion pedal I've ever seen - it doesn't even produce usable volume unless I put it in front of something else. It seems to only cut volume. Even with the knobs maxed, it's far louder in bypass than it is when it's on. Granted, this is a Rat 2 with no mods, but if this is how the pedal is supposed to sound, I think I'll be looking elsewhere. I took a look inside and everything seems all right, which leads to my confusion. Did I just get unlucky and end up with one that doesn't work as it's supposed to, or is there a point to this thing that I've missed somewhere along the way? Members gtrwiz
is it a new one? There certainly are years that they f'd it up pretty bad, I had one from the early 90's that was awful, I hated Rat's until I heard a good one. Members lostandfoundpdx
dude, mine is a 2000 rat2, and its loud as {censored} without it even close to cranked. do you have a dead battery in it? maybe try that. i'm sure if its not a battery you got a dud. that happens. don't give up on the rat till you find one that works properly. Members YourHerodDGC
Are you using a fresh battery or the proper power supply?
Members Zlandicar
Yeah, it's new, but I don't know how long it sat on eBay until I grabbed it.I was gonna send it to Keeley to mod anyway, maybe I can con him into fixing it too EDIT - I've tried both. Not THE official Rat power supply, mind, but the 1-Spot, which should be just as good.
