Members plecoman
I have been serching for a chrous pedal that would work well with a highish gain distortion(JCM 800 cranked out). I tried the Boss CE5 and it worked well, but I found it quiet lifeless. Any alternatives yu guys can suggest? Also the Voodoolab chrous I found added too much treble to the signal, and not thick enough. THX!
Members formisano
Were you using the Chorus before the gain or after the gain when you tried these other pedals? The reason I ask is that I was having a hard time getting a decent Chorus sound with the chorus after the distortion, then I bought a CH-1 and just put the thing in front of the amp (in front of the gain), as opposed to in the loop, and it rocks! Members plecoman
I was trying hti infront of the amp. not through the FX loop. The FX loop on the jcm800 2 channel models are so primative that I dare not plug anything into them! I also use a Klon before the chrous to give the amps a little more drive. So its guitar -> Klon -> CHROUS -> AMP. Any other suggestions?
Members ck3
You may want to go digital. I've found that analog choruses tend to boost undesirable frequencies in the post-gain position.
Members GuitArtMan
That would be the Fulltone ChoralFlange.
Members comfortablynumb
My Ibanez CF7 Chorus/flanger actually sounds pretty good with high gain. Not the best clean, though..
Members plecoman
yes, I considered the Fulltone ChoralFlange, but its a little pricey... Digital? Like a Line 6 chrous? Also, anyone had a go on a Jacques meistersinger on high gain?
Members ck3
Digital? Like a Line 6 chrous? I've achieved decent post-gain results with the Boss GT-8 and Yamaha Magicstomp MK-I.
Members formisano
If you look for a Boss CH-1, run the serial number thru this:http://www.bossarea.com/serial/sndecoder.aspxIf it comes up as being made before October 2001, then it is analog. These pedals sound GREAT in my opinion, I love mine. The CH-1 gets a bad rap because the newer ones don't sound as good. But there's a reason for that!Check out this link for more information:http://www.bossarea.com/loadpage.asp?file=boxes/ch1.xml
Members M900
For chorus, check out the CH1 and the Ibanez SC 10. For flangers, I like the jet plane sounds from the BF 2, but the Electric Mistress also sounds great with a lot of dirt. c
