Drum Machines

I've got a DR-880 that I love, but it's a bit pricey. It's good for idiots like me who can't be bothered with MIDI or step recording or any of that stuff (although it accommodates all of that and more). Nice drum sounds, a gazillion presets, plus Roland/Boss guitar & bass amp modeling. No complaints at all.

Roland R-8 is good. It's a very strong sounding drum machine. It has big pads on top for triggering various instruments or you can chain a few patterns and go. They're still affordable - around $120 - $150.

They sound great and there are expansion cards for more drum sounds, 808, 909, Jazz Brush, etc.

There's also an R-8 mkII which has many of the expansion card sounds in memory, but they're fetching $300+.

I have an R8 mkII (along with half a dozen sound cards for it) in my collection, and it is indeed a great drum machine.
