Members davenoid
Does anyone know the difference between the 250 and Distortion +? I understand the difference between the clipping diodes, but why the different resistors and capacitors? If you built two pedals, one to 250 specs with 1N914 diodes and one to Distortion + specs also with 1N914 diodes, what would be the difference in sound (tone, distortion, volume, etc.)? If you built a pedal to the Distortion + specs but omitted the two caps that aren't in the 250, what sound changes would result from stock specs? This is going to be my first pedal build, and I'm just trying to better understand what my options are. Thanks!
Members SUPER VELCROBOY
never built those. I think the guys at byoc forum would know. You can always have the best of both and switch between them
Members Hanglow
I don't know off hand, but you could socket the caps to see what difference it can make. Also socket the input cap and the opamp. It's a highly moddable circuit. There is also the old 1977 OD250 version kicking about as well.
