the TS5 isnt too too bad

let me say first that ive had my fair share of tubescreamers, even the early ts808, it was original and sold a couple years ago to a close friend who was moving away (he begged me for years about it!)

 

 

 

anyway, it was $15 used so I figured what the heck. i was not expecting much. i like the soundtank DL-5 delay, and a few other soundtanks, but was not happy years ago with any of thier dirt soundtanks, especially the "powerlead pedal". that thing was just weak.

 

 

 

but to the point - through a good amp the pedal does a really good mid-humped OD. especially when the tubes are already breaking and the ts5 is set for boost (low drive, high volume/level).

 

its a little bit muddy but not too bad. same mid-hump and same compressed drive. im not deaf, i do hear the mud but i was very happy for $15. it really filled a spot i needed filled, and for that kind of cabbage i gotta say its alright with me
