I'm buying parts to build this dual loop stomp box http://www.musicgearsource.com/colkv1.html. They say I need 3 x 4.7k resistors. I'm buying the others parts on http://www.effectsconnection.com

Are they the Carbon or Metal ones ?

I also need to know what type of wire I need. This is my first DIY project and I'm not very familiar with all this.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Resistors don't matter for LEDs. You are powering the LEDs with 9v, and most LEDs only need about 1.3 volts (will actually burn out with more than 2.0v or so) The resistors serve to cut the voltage down (since the LEDs use so little current, 1/4w resistors are fine). The cheap carbon ones are perfect for this, no need to get expensive resistors.

As for wire, get whatever, somewhere between 20 and 24 ga. is probably best. Stranded is better than solid. Pre-tinned wire is great for getting started but not that necessary (you can do it yourself, just strip about 1.5cm of wire and apply a thin coat of solder to it, this is called "tinning"
