Members fatbackribs
Not an effect as much as a cool little music toy, the Kaossilator takes Korg's mini Kaoss pad and adds internal sounds and a looper. After choosing a sound you just pick your key and select from 40 scales then let your fingers do the walking on the X-Y pad. Besides being a cool idea machine and mini sound source it could also be a great way of bringing kids or the musically fearful into jam sessions. You just set the key and scale for them and let 'em have at it. I got my Kaossilator from Sweetwater a few weeks ago. Here's a little vid I made with it the other night. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4588756791431163329&hl=en And here's the official product page: http://www.korg.co.uk/products/dance_dj/kaossilator/kaossilator.asp fun stuff. Members fatbackribs
is it worth $200 though? I am tempted.... That is something only you can decide. For me, yes it's worth it, but the limitations are obvious. There are only 100 sounds and there is no midi or external synching ability. Still, it's so unique and fun to goof around with that I happy with my purchase. The yellow plastic casing is pretty ugly though.:poke: It seems that it would be simple enough for Korg to come out with a whole (color coded?) line of these little guys, each with different sets of samples geared to different types of music; World Beat, Hip Hop, Rock, Funk, Drum & Bass, the Brewtal Metalz, etc...
