Anyone else get noise on a DigiDelay after a few years?

I've been using a DigiTech DigiDelay (happily) for about five or six years. I initially purchased it because I needed slap-back, long delay in stereo, and chorus, and I could get all three in one pedal. It has been a good run. But I've recently noticed that when it is engaged I get a hollow sounding artifact ... a sort of roaring ... that doesn't really matter at gig volumes, but I don't want it crapping out in the middle of a show. And I must assume this will get worse.

I get the noise when it's in front of the amp, when it's in the loop, when it's by itself, and regardless of where I put it in my chain. My chain, when used in front of an amp (I go back and forth on the loop :( ) is ...

DigiDelay -> Morely Wah -> Bad Monkey -> MojoDrive

... and I've had this sound with my Mesa F-50, my Laney LC-50, and my Ceriatone DC-30.

Anyone else has this start happening?

Any suggestions about fixing it?

Is it just worn out?

What's the alternative? A Visual Sound H2O?
