Members surfcat
The new GP mag has a Keeley DS-1 review and of course they liked it. It reminded me of how a lot of people like them with Marshalls. I have a Direct Drive-how do they compare? Are they similar at all? Btw, they also tested a Cot50 and Screwdriver. Gas city. Members grayeyes777
i had the ds1 and it sounded good for rhythm stuff at low gain but for a lead pedal it was somewhat buzzy and didn't have much sustain. DD is a very dry sounding pedal to me and on the verge of harsh. I would take the ds but try the dd and if you like it then go with that.
Members Renunciati0n
For me, the Keeley DS-1 doesn't have a ton of usable sounds, but the ones that are usable are very good. Through a class A tube amp, it does the low gain AC/DC crunch well, as well as high gain plexi tones. It's not a very smooth pedal though.
