Since it's a used car (2001 Prizm), it's being called a total loss. The options are receiving the "actual value" of the car (not going to equal the actual money I put in to buy, repair, and register it in the past month) or fixing it myself, with limited help from insurance companies (which doesn't really make much sense if it's as cost-prohibitive as it sounds like it will be).
