panning pedal idea, why hasn't someone done this?

panning doesn't work too well for the audience unless they happen to be sitting smack dab in the centre of the left and right mixes

I'm not planning on doing wide stereo panning. It's more about mixing from dry to wet or simply between a clean and overdriven amp. Two effects chains and two amps, the possibilities are endless.

I like the expression pedal idea. I would keep the volume mode though, for steel guitar. That would be easier than panning. From what I've read about the Ernie Ball Volume/Pan pedal, there is a huge volume loss when panning is at it's middle setting. You have to go 100% in one of the two directions in order to have full volume. That's just not acceptable.

hmm ive used the ernie ball volume pan to mix between two fx.. toe up would be
fx a and toe down fx b ..in between mix ..seemed to work fine ... would use it like using chorus on rhythm part then pan over quickly for a lead line with octave and back and forth ...:blah:
