Members Farmer Ted
I've been using a different power supply than the original one my synth came with. Somebody was telling me that it wasn't a good idea to do this, but my thinking is that, if I'm using the proper voltage and the amp power is strong enough to power the synth, am I really damaging my keyboard? Please let me know!!
Members Mintbeetle
yeah, as long as voltage and amp specs are the same, there really isn't anything that could go wrong.
Members mate_stubb
You have to satisfy 3 conditions, and you are OK. 1. The voltage rating has to be exact. Give it 9 volts if it is asking for 9 volts. Also make sure of the type - some supplies give you AC and some give you DC. That must match as well. 2. For current, the supply must be rated for AT LEAST the minimum needed, but can be capable of more without problems. A device requiring 1.2 amps can be satisfied by a supply capable of 1500 mA (1.5A). 3. Plug polarity - some have + center and - sleeve, others are reversed. With supplies producing AC, this doesn't matter.
