Members kyrreca
I've been looking at acoustic guitars lately, and I came across this one. I don't think I've ever seen an acoustic with a maple board. Do you think it will have a big impact on the tone?
Members rileykill
They are pretty uncommon. I've played maybe one or two ... it's difficult to tell if there is any difference in sound unless you can find the same guitar with a non-maple fretboard ... but I doubt you would hear anything different based on fretboard wood. There are tons of other things that are more important in the context of acoustic guitars ... top wood and bracing being the two I consider first. Members kyrreca
The guitar has a spruce top, but the back is maple and jacaranda (?). The sides kinda look like maple too. Sounds like it could get a little bright, but I'm starting to think I should go and check it out.
Members rileykill
Yeah it will probably be "snappy" due to the maple ... but don't let anyone tell you maple is a dead wood. I played a 60's Gibson Dove for a long time and it sustained like a mother{censored}er.
Members rdm
Might be a little too bright
Members rileykill
If it's played in pretty good it might not be so bad. Maple mellows pretty nicely sometimes. How is it braced?
Members Alex D
hey it might be bright, but then you can get some of those stainless steal wound over a silk core folk strings. A little dull if the guitar is dark, but for a bright guitar they really smooth things out and have a nice mellow the tone.
Members kyrreca
I haven't been able to find any information about the bracing, I'll have to ask the seller.
