Benefits of a Midi controller to a guitar player in a live setting

I was thinking about buying the Line 6 Toneport UX2 but for $50 more I got the same setup with the addition of a 37 key Midi Controller. What can this piece of technology do for me as a guitar player in a live environment? I have been playing for 10 years and this is my first piece of recording equipment but Im really interested in how I could use the keyboard portion of this device on stage with my laptop. I'm not looking for alternatives to the product I purchased.

The KB37 comes with Ableton Live Lite and Line 6 Gearbox.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

According to a user review on this page, the KB37 only transmits on MIDI channel 1.

That's one thing to consider. My personal preference would be to get separate audio interface and keyboard controller instead of an all-in-one, but that's just me.

Still, if all you want to do is play some pads and you need to save space in your car (and wallet), it should be sufficient for your needs. Here's a more detailed review:
