Members Agreed
I've used both, the Solid Metal will always be in my collection while the J&H isn't. The Solid Metal has tons of tone, versatility to spare; it's crushing but roll back your volume and it's a clean/crunch with a lot of warmth, then raise it back up to destroy. However I've been trying some new high-gain pedals lately and there are definitely some cool options. The modern, AC-powered Ibanez Tube King was a real shock, I got it in today and it's one of the most fluid, clear, powerful but still cutting high gain pedals I've ever used. Great EQ, effective adjustment, and I even get along with the VOID noise gate pretty well. You've got to fiddle with it to get the threshold right, and adjust your playing to the gate, but that's normal with any noise gate really. And it sounds fantastic. Kind of blows my mind how good it sounds, actually.
Members doppelbanger
i own a jekyll and hyde and love its versatility. just listened to the clips of the damage control and while it sounds like it can get very ballsy im not sure it would be as versatile. for a pedal called solid metal it sounds like it can get a pretty great fuzz tone. Members peridot1
for a pedal called solid metal it sounds like it can get a pretty great fuzz tone. It's not a fuzz tone. No opinion on the J&H but use to have the SM. Very organic tone but I can only get mid to high gain. No cleans. Very ballsy. It's no metal muff for sure. Didn't vote. An old narrated clip I made of the Solid Metal and Metal Muff together... http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dcpnymftmxg
