Kawai / Cubase / Device Panels - Advice?

Hi,

Wondered if anyone has any advice...

I have a keyboard (Kawai MP5) which I'd like to set up as a MIDI device in Cubase (SX3). I found a patch name file which I "tricked" Cubase into reading, so that I can automatically select it from the menu of available devices. (#1--- strange that Cubase needs to be tricked...in other words, I can't simply upload a txt file of patch names to a new device; Cubase officially wants me to enter each patch name individually!!)

Kawai MP5 successfully installed as a MIDI device now. However, I have no way of accessing effects and EQ. When I select a patch via Cubase, all I hear are the dry sounds---unfortunate, as many of the Kawai effects are quite nice.

To access effects etc, I believe I need to create a device panel, which is basically a graphical representation of the Kawai MP5 panel with all of the associated hexadecimal codes. (#2---is that right?? That sounds like an awful amount of work!!)

Is there an easier way of going about this?

XML files for Kawai MP series stage pianos are nowhere to be found online.

Thanks for any advice
