WTF ?! I just spoke to a friend who used to work for Roland U.S,

and if this is true, Roland is going to announce what seems to be an answer to the Prophet 08 ?!

Does anybody have any info about this one ? Could that be an upgraded JP8 ?!!

Yes, it's the Roland Jupiter IO (Io is a moon of Jupiter and looks like the number 10. Clever.)

The Jupiter Io will be almost identical in appearance to the Jupiter 8. It will have MIDI, USB, and Firewire connectivity. 20 oscillators (ultra-stable ver. 4) are at the synth's heart and can be run 1x20, 2x10, 4x5, 5x4, or in mono mode with 1, 2, 3, 8, or 16 oscillators. It will have a switchable 12/18/24 pole filter for each oscillator with full analog envelope controls. Additionally 10 sub oscillators will be added for earth shaking bass. Both white and pink noise generators will be fitted as well as a stereo input to mix outboard signals through the filter.

Patch memory will be implemented without affecting the all analog signal path. The sequencer can run on full or half if the synth is split, allowing the other 10 oscillators to be played. The chorus section will utilize 20 Panasonic MN3005 chips (4096 stage) for rich analog chorus.

The Roland Jupiter Io will be made in Japan, and the price of this wonderful synth is expected to be $1995. The first 100 will be signed by Howard Jones and come boxed with the new re-release of the Roland SH-101 (more on that later.)

BTW, April Fool!
