Members Daryl Chaney
hey, Im looking for some cool hip/hop, drum + bass, glitchy electro drum set samples too. Any have advice on where to start looking for these to build my sets? Obviously i'd prefer to try and get them for free, but i dont mind spending some money on a super good sample cd/dvd. Members Yoozer
Protip: replying with "Thanks, but I've already tried that" instead of a wouldn't make you look like an ass. Anyway, The MPC uses .wav files. Whatever you put in there, as long as it's .wav, is going to work. For any sound you can think of: http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/ For basic drumkits - vintage ones: http://machines.hyperreal.org/samples.html Hiphop: enough sample CDs available for that - see http://www.ueberschall.com/ , http://www.zero-g.co.uk/ and http://www.soundsonline.com/home.php . Just read the SoundOnSound reviews and check out the demo. Ditto for D'n'b. Electro(clash): http://www.vengeance-sound.com/eng/indexes/indexSampleCDs.html As for glitch, yes, they have sample CDs for that too, but it's more a sign of how the genre is played out. Making glitch is not about samples; it's about doing your own work of cutting up sounds, treating them with effects and using any usable material instead of a bog-standard drum kit. Lots of work to keep the percussion varied and interesting, and the sounds non-standard. A sample CD homogenizes that stuff.
