Members jp308
Anybody been through this before? I broke my left ring finger playing flag football. What should I expect once the bandages come off? I'm a righty so this is my fretting hand. Any advice?
Members Josh33
i would say just wait until it feels good enough to start playing again. by any means dont push it too hard and just start by doing scales, basic stuff, running through lines and just get that baby back to rocking. Members Dissentience
Make sure it aligns right. Seriously, my friends finger healed out of alignment, made bar chords a bitch.

Members AnderMocs
Start slow. You basically have to re-teach it to get the strength back. Don't over exert it. Start doing scales with a metronome slowly, and work your way up until its strength is back to normal.

Members jp308
Thanks guys. I definitely do want to take it slow and get it right. The doc gave me a choice of just having a splint or getting pins put in to straighten it out, and I went with the pins. Better chance of having a 'normal' finger long-term. Not being able to play sucks.
Members Zer0beaT
I'm sorry, but I was expecting legendary comedy when I entered this thread... I'm quite disappointed? No, maybe I'm actually impressed.... Sucks about your finger and unlucky it's your fretting hand, but you should be fine just don't overstress it too early, your age matters too, the younger you are, the better chance your bones will rejoin as good as new and sometimes even stronger than before. Now, let's have at the rehabbing finger innuendos!!!!!
