Members ClickyClique
I recently purchased an old Maxon AD-80. I know that, originally, the adapter was for an 18v 1/8 positive tip. However, the model I received has been modified to accept the standard Boss-type size. I'm just wondering, is there a way to test whether this modification is a + or - tip without frying the circuit? Members andreas
Aside from looking (which can be tricky - since the AD80 is an 18vDC pedal and the batteries are hooked up in series, it may not be immediately apparent which way the jack is wired), you could use a multimeter/continuity tester. Insert a patch cable in the input jack, and measure for continuity between the adapter jack's center pin and ground. If you get continuity, the jack is wired center negative.
