Members Unfed
recently sold a Boss FRV-1 reverb pedal. the buyer just contacted me saying that he thinks it's defective, that it drains the 9V battery even when the pedal is "turned off". am i right in thinking that the pedal is always draining the battery unless you unplug the cable coming from the guitar (and/or other effects)? as in, the pedal is really never 'off' unless you unplug this cable? also, do COSM pedals drain the battery faster than usual? the thing was/is brand new, i'm doubting that it's actually defective. not sure if i've ever even heard of a Boss pedal being 'defective'. thanks! Members H.R. Shove and Stuff
In general, digital pedals draw a lot of current. I don't know how that model works, but it should say in the manual if unplugging the input cable will deactivate the battery or not. Just tell him to take the plastic off his knobs and get over it (I thought/hoped that was what this thread was about).
Members Naterel
Most time based pedals drain batteries super quick tell him to use a power supply if possible because it will just keep eating up batteries
Members Grueller
The static charge from the protective plastic on the knobs will cause interference in the power circuit, so it will draw more power from the battery to compensate. And yes, leaving the input plugged in will also drain the battery.
