Members Bill Cosby
More specifically anyone root their droid on a mac?
Members pepperduck
I was going to root my droid on my mac but everything I found through forums and google looked very time consuming and convoluted. I just went to my brother's place and rooted it on his pc.
Members Bill Cosby
I also have a PC here with me, what did he use?I'm running Android v2.2.1 and Build Number FRG83D if that helps any. And what are you doing with your rooted droid?
Members Harry_Manback1
What does rooting do for ya?
Members frankiej
What does rooting do for ya? You can overclock, and customize even further (like homescreen, icons, widgets, etc..). I'm sure you can do a lot more but your a bit more limited on the Droid 2 then you would be on the original Droid since its running a more "closed" system (motoblur n such). From all the time I have spent looking it up that's what I've concluded. It voids your warranty though. I've talked to people who love their rooted droids. If you like tweaking and are into the technical aspect then rooting is your thing.
Members Bill Cosby
I have the first generation motorola droid. It's just android version 2.2.1. From what I'm reading everywhere I can't really do much with this build number, the FRG83D.Everything I've read needs FRG22B.
Members pepperduck
I have a droid x. Honestly I only did it to have a mobile hotspot without paying and to get rid of all of the preinstalled bull{censored} that clogs up the phone. You can just do a hard reboot to get it back to normal. I used Z4root
Members Bill Cosby
z4root isnt available from the market anymore.I went around that and installed it from the internet on my phone, opened it, said it was rooting my droid and then about halfway through when aquiring script IIRC it goes back to my downloads from the internet. No reboot, no rooting on my droid.I go to open it from the menu and it keeps force closing whenever i try to open it.
