Members Fine_Young_Fool
IS there any way to get those great Sly and the Family Stone electric keyboard sounds? Or any other kind of funky keyboard things with a VA like the SH-201, or is it a strictly ROMpler thing?
Members -groovatious-
Of course you can. Most of the 'funky' 70s mono sounds were made with one of the Arp synths (Odyssey etc) or Minimoog. While some VAs emulate the characters of these synth's filters/oscillators better than others - you can get 'approximations' with pretty much any VA out there. I've made some nice squelchy funky 70s sounds on the SH-201. There are better VAs if that's purely what you want to do, but the SH will get you in the ballpark. Members InsideLookinOut
Only thing is if you're looking to capture Sly Stone's classic keyboard sound, then you don't want a va synth. Sly usually used Farfisa organs and electric pianos like Wurlitzer. So you'd be better off with a Nord Electro, which will more than cover that area. Or just get a rompler like a Motif or Fantom and have those as well as synth sounds etc...
Members eric
I live in VA and have found many funk sounds. If you ever visit VA, let me know and I can show you.
