Now I think the R3 is better. Same-ish price, tons of features, and it seems simpler. Plus, it has a vocoder. I wanna play mainly Dance-Punk with it, ala We Are Wolves. Members xmlguy Posted October 14, 2008 Members Share Posted October 14, 2008 I would recommend that you start with an EMX-1, then add a synth later. A groovebox will get you into building beats a lot faster than any synth without a sequencer. The synth section on the EMX will go a long way on its own, and having lots of knobs for live tweaking is one of its strengths. But the R3 is a fine choice for a synth.
