Members louloomis
Hi Everyone. I'm sick of the metronome and would like a drum machine that I can practice with and possibly record with as well. So it has to have semi-realistic sounds for jazz/fusion/world (if possible). Any ideas? Thanks.LouLoomis

Members Pilotwings
Try and find a used MPC500. I've seen them go for about $300. It's a sampling drum machine & that way you can use whatever sounds you like. You may get bored over time with a drum machine that you can't change the sounds - kind of like a metronome. This is good advice. You also get a world class MIDI sequencer in the MPC500 with great stability and timing. If you want to add some synths or something to the mix the 500 can sequence it, no problem. If you want to buy new but can't come up with $600 for one, you can get them from American Musical Supply in 3 "E-Z payment" installments. http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-AKA-MPC500-PAK-LIST Give them $200 up front and they'll ship it out to you ASAP. Every 30 days after the initial purchase date they'll charge your debit/credit card $200 until it's paid off. NO CREDIT CHECKS (under$1,000) and NO INTEREST. NO BS. If you can come up with $200 before the end of the month you can get Akai's $50 holiday mail-in rebate and a free 2 GB compact flash card. Better jump on it! Members dan88z
The old Alesis SR16 is a pretty fun little box, and isn't very expensive.
