Members louloomis
Hi. Is there a hardware synth module (or keyboard) under $500 (used) which emphasizes having a ton of great sounds as opposed to emphasizing some good sounds and a lot of programmability? I just need a bunch of great sounds (all the usual instruments, plus some new-agey sounds). I don't need any programmability at all. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Members louloomis
Oh - I also don't need an onboard sequencer or effects (although a lot seem to have fx built in). Thanks,LouLoomis

Members r4uz
Just take any random old Roland/Yamaha/Korg sound module? (e.g. yamaha motif rack, roland jv1080, i don't know any korg ones)
Members tjwett
Daddy's currently has two JV-1080s with expansions installed for $249, which means you should be able to get them for even less. I always get a good deal over the phone with those guys. *EDIT: oooh and a 2080 for a hundred bucks more.
Members soundwave106
Roland JV1010 and Alesis Nanosynth. Absolutely no editing without a computer. All presets, all the time.

Members cram1960
Korg TR Rack +1 Also Roland XV series (1080, 2080, 3080) and the original Yamaha Motif Rack. All used of course. Om mi to fuo.
Members Gaul
Roland XV-2020. Just add the most suitable SRX expansion and you would be fine with 500 USD or less.
Members Suilebhain
Yamaha TG-500's seem to go cheap and have been described as a "box o'sounds". they are programmable, being the rack version of the SY-85, but it is the old "little screen and too few buttons" syndrome. Members Yoozer
Korg TR Rack Another +1. Check http://www.synthmania.com/TR-Rack.htm Who knows - you may also be able to score the Triton rack for that money, but you'll have to be really lucky. Members Karma1
If you can find an Oberheim Matrix 1000, it should fit your criteria. It's got 1000 sounds and no programability (other than with a computer).
