Members Lanefair
I want to mod my TS clone for more bass, but there seems to be two ways to mod it. One is: Change the .047uf tone stack cap for a higher value. But I've also seen people say to make the 22n input cap larger. I want to put this mod on a switch, but not sure which one to do. Is one more common than the other?
Members andreas
Do you mean the 0.047 in the R/C filter? I usually up that one to 0.1uF (0.22uF if I also increase the gain by lowering the 4.7K to 2.2K), and use the 0.047uF in place of the 0.022uF input cap. Replacing the input cap doesn't make a huge difference, but it doesn't hurt either. And the 0.047uF is free...
Members mmolteratx
The .047u cap in the feedback loop is what you want to change. The input cap won't change anything. As is, the input RC network's roll off is well below the audio range.
