Members Hallex
I have the Mesa Boogie Bottle Rocket and love it for rock and blues. I am playing some jazz those days , i am looking for a warm, clean but still slightly distort sound and i find that the breakup from clean to dirty is hard to get on the unit,as it pass from clean to overdrive too fast. Reading fromm the reviews, it is suggest to change the 12ax7 tubes for less gain 12at7 tubes. Anyones tried this, on the Mesa or on his own amp? Will it make easier to find the sweet spot, or will it only make the pedal quieter?

Members madryan
I've always found that 12AT7's typically sound really thin and shrill compared to something like a good NOS 5751. I'd go that route. Dougs tubes has them and they're not that much.

Members jimmy67
I have had my bottle rocket for seven years. It is by far the quietest distortion pedal I have ever owned. I had the soldano distortion pedal and there was NO COMPARISON. I play it through a 100 watt marshall master volume circa 1975 and a Rivera fifty-five twelve. I have sent it back to mesa and they put newer tubes and some adjustments to the circuits. If it were to get stolen I would get another one in a heartbeat. I have 212 AX7's in it. Great tone shaping with the bass and treble knobs.Works with both strat pu and Humbuckers
