Members Sun Ra
Just bought one, thought the gain channel had a harsh sound, I realize the speaker needs to break in. Anyone have better results with a tube swap or different speakers? I was thinking maybe a greenback or a g12h30.Any insight would be appreciated

Members Caroway
I wouldn't recommend a greenback considering the Duotone combo is a 50 watt 1x12 and greenback is a 25 watt speaker.

Members peehoo
I would wait for the speaker to break in and decide then. Which is the stock speaker?
Members Sun Ra
Its a vintage 30. I know what they sound like when they are broken in, I used to use a filament transformer with the speakers disconnected to loosen them up a bit. I realize a Greenback is only 25 watts. I was thinking running through a 2-12 with greenbacks might tame the high end a bit. Maybe a Tone Tubby?
Members Caroway
Have you considered maybe a 2x12 extension with a v30 and a greenback? That might be pretty cool.
