Members Ryder
I recently find out that The Beatles used a Fender Bassman for many of their recordings between 1965-69. Does anybody know what kind of Bassman they used? There seems to be a lot of diffrent models of Bassman amps around and I want the kind that The Beatles used. Members jazzbo
Check out this website. Looks like they used a lot of amps.... the bassman was a very rare model...http://www.beatlesgear.com/
Members JerryP
According to that site it looks like they used an early 60's 6G6 or 6G6A circuit Bassman. There's a book out about Beatles gear written by Andy Babiuk who works at the The House of Guitars in Rochester, NY. I haven't seen the book, but I've heard it's very good. Members Ryder
Thanks for the answers! Do you know if there's is a big difference in sound, except loudness, between the bigger Bassmans, with top, and the smaller 50 w?
Members Kap'n
6G6 and 6G6-A Bassmans have virtually nothing in common, circuit-wise, with the Blackface and Silverface amps of the same name...or the tweed amps of the same name, for that matter. Blond Bassmans (the 6G6 and 6G6-A) are also the Brian Setzer amp.
