Members Whoopysnorp
I'm probably going to experiment with it soon, if only because I have a front-loaded cab and I'm planning on taking its speakers and putting them in the 5150 cab I just bought. I'll put the Sheffields in the other cab and see what happens. To tell the truth I doubt it'll be very good, but who knows.

Members Whoopysnorp
I'm glad you bumped this. I swapped my speakers around last night, and for some reason I wound up liking the Sheffields a lot better in the front loaded Hughes & Kettner cab. I expected the opposite, but they seem less harsh and less mid-scooped now. Who knew?

Members dughaze
I play hard rock, no death metal, and I hear people knocking the Sheffield 1230 which I have in a cheapy Peavey SX112 cab and it sounds great once you get a little volume on it. These speakers are nice and I have a broken in vintage 30 recto cab to compare it too. It is a great portable practice cab and speaker and I've gigged with it just because I felt like taking something lighter and more portable and it is a workhorse. I do like it better open backed even though I like closed back speaker cabs better though. Maybe that has something to do with people not liking the 1230's. Try 'em front loaded.
