KT88 tubes in a high gain amp?

Can anyone give any feedback?

Yes?

No?

Why or why not?

How does it effect the tone or gain (preamp tube I know) sounds or anything?

I have them in my Randall but not very many people use them and I was wondering why.

I know the KT88 are a clearer more headroom tube.

Is there a reason I shouldn't and just run 6L6's instead?

Let your ears decide...that's all that matters

if the amp was designed around or to be used with 6l6 id use those. if the guy who designed your amp decided to go with kt88s he would know and leave those in.
