Midi clock problem

I use Fruity Loops Studio edition to mix/record midi's.

I recently upgraded my laptop (from IBM T30 to a 2 gHz dual core T60 w/ 2 gig ram + ATI radeon X1300 video). I kept the Creative PCMCIA SB Audigy ZS (w/ ASIO4All drivers) from the T30

Now when I even try to play a simple midi the internal midi clock apparently isn't steady/stable. Not sure how else to describe it but the midi "master tempo" speeds up/slows down slightly. Obviously this makes it impossible to do any analog recording along with the midi.

It's gotta be related to my new T60 since FL worked fine on my 2 gHz T30. I've looked at task manager to see if there was some background process that was stealing processor time (nothing I can see) and processor use never gets above 10-20%. I've tried shutting down any virus/firewall/etc. s/w but that doesn't seem to matter.

Anybody got any ideas what might be interfering with the midi clock?
