Members kcswimjustin
A question to anyone and everyone: After a recording session this weekend, I stupidly left the power cable to my amp (a Vox AC-30, if that matters) at the studio. I realized this on Sunday night and called and left a message. However, the engineer is now out of town for the week and won't get the message until early next week. I just discovered that an old computer power cable seems to power the amp just fine (although the computer power cable is much thinner). But I might be doing irreparable damage to the tubes and not know it. Am I running any kind of risk by using this substitute cable, or is this a viable replacement? Replies/comments are welcome. Thanks, kcswimjustin
Members GCDEF
Any universal power cable should be fine. There's no way you could damage your amp. The worst that could happen is a really crappy cord could melt, but it would have to be really, really crappy.
Members KarateSchnitzel
Yeah any power cable fitted with an IEC 'kettle' type plug will work just fine....amps don't take very much power art all compared to say kettles and cookers... Members kcswimjustin
Cool. Thanks for the tip. The cable is from a Dell computer I bought in 1999, and it's always worked fine for that, so I'm optimistic and relieved. Thanks for your help.
