They're awesome! However, are there any affordable amps (preferably a combo) that are capable of coming close to the tone and killer response from humbuckers similar to that in this clip: http://www.steelbender.com/mpeg/briggs/bermanbriggs4.mpg ... yet also gets close to this kind of tone and response with a Strat? http://www.germinoamps.com/mpeg/jabclas45a.mpg Is there anything mere mortals and self-taught hacks can afford that comes close? I realize it's a longshot, however, Christmas is coming and my child support obligation is finished. However, as near as I can tell, all those options mentioned are over my $1200 limit, which is, unfortunately, firm. I actually thought about trying to find a used silver-face Bassman 50 and sending it to Fuchs. But again, most places I've seen 70s Bassman 50 head are under the severely mistaken notion that it's some kind of classic and they want way too much for them. By the time I bought one ... had it modded at Fuchs ... and bought an Avatar 2x12 cab ... I'm going to bust my budget.Someone suggested one of the new Traynor 50 combos modded by Voodoo might keep me around a grand. I dunno ... Being poor sucks.
