Members UnChained!
Amp Guru's! I wanna swap out the lame ass speakers in my AVT412's. I have an AVT50 head and have read that the 1960A & B's sound pretty good with it. Trouble is new cabs will run $1300 and I'll still have to dump the old ones. Can or has anyone changed speakers? I would like to just buy 8 G12T-75 Celestions (1960) and swap them out. That would save about $800. Thoughts???
Members UnChained!
Umm, I know this isn't the be-all, end-all amp. I'd still like to improve it a little bit. Help?
Members mysticaxe
The Valvestate cabs are also a fair amount smaller than the 1960 cabs. I think you would be better off buying new cabs. One at a time if need be. Used, they run about $400 each. That being said, I have a pair of the speakers if you want to pick them up to see how you like them... Members UnChained!
Thanks man. I'll take those into consideration. I know the cabs are smaller, but the speakers are still 12"... Whatever the hell is in there now ("Custom Voiced Celestians") are starting to sound like crap.
Members mysticaxe
Sound (from a cab) is from both the speakers and the box. Sometimes just changing one will get you where you want. Oh, and go blue (I lived in A2 a while ago)...
