Members Japetus
List speakers that you would describe as having "boxy" tone.

Members -=MYK=-
I usually take mine out of the box before using them with my amp.

I just cut a hole in the box in front of the speaker cone and bolt them into my cab. That way, I can sell them later as NOS, because they're still in the boxes. Hmm....I kinda like the Marshall cabs over the Peavey cabs. Go figure I think they are both fairly similar, but the Marshall has a little more in the upper mids that I like. No it's not a 5150 cab. When the amp is cranked the tone goes from chunk to kind of thud. I know not the best description. But when I eq it with an outboard unit it gets a tone that I really like. I'm not talking about extreme eqing either. Thanks for the replies (at least the useful ones:p )

I'll duct tape the cutout back in for you, so the box is whole again.

I think its because the Marshall cab is slightly bigger.I use a BX cab that had Greenbacks in it..I swaped them out for Mesa's V30. So its kinda like a Recto cab and a Marshall cab... The Peavey cabs are stiff and kinda hard sounding..more in your face..Actually I dig them alot.I - may- pick up a Mesa oversized..but thats all I'll ever need.. 3-4x12's are plenty..
