Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
I know it is VA and the Andy is analog but can it serve up similar sounds, as the Nord Modular G2 is less on the used market. Also, does the Nord Modular have a dedicated built in arpeggiator on the front panel or are the arpeggiating possibilities only accessed through programming the sequencer? Members evildragon
G2 is freaking flexible and sounds very good. Dunno about the polyphony compared to Andy, though.
Members Umbra
Depends on what you mean by similar.
Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Thanks guys for the replies. evildragon, does it have an arp feature on the front too or is that layered within the sequencer? Umbra, sound like rhetorical question but I guess I am being too general. I guess what I want out of this thing is what I have heard the Andy do in some of the sound demos I have heard. And the ones I liked most were when it was: Immitating Moog Modular sounds.Doing Resonant SweepsVintage type arpeggiations and sequences in the style of Vangelis, Moroder, and John Carpenter
Members Teoman
I don't think it can sound anything like an Andy. I have an Andy and have access to a G2 engine. There is no commonality to my ears.
Members cl516
i've had both... G2 you can obviously go in and build a similar architecture, but that alone won't make it sound the same. you'd have to EQ a lot i think. the basic filters alone on the two units are so different in my opinion, and same with the oscillators, tuning, etc.
Members drxcm
G2's arp is easily switched on and configured from the front panel - no computer or programming necessary...
Members mildbill
They don't sound much the same. The G2 is sharper and buzzier. Inaccurate terms, but hopefully somewhat descriptive.

Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Well the link I left above is making this look more like an oranges vs lemons comparison to me, and lemons not meaning non functioning. What do you think of it?
Members cosmic.synth
A G2 can be made to sound like an Andromeda. An Andromeda can be made to sound like a G2. On the other hand a G2 can do sounds an Andromeda can't. But an Andromeda can also do sounds a G2 can't. This can be said for any two synths you compare. I guess I meant to say "Yes" and "No". Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Ah, me too. Yes, all three synths sounded really punchy. That TI's arpeggiated pattern was really dialed in well.
Members McHale
I'm such a sucker for good analog-ish brass pads. But, you know who else likes Nords? This guy: I'd consider that a ringing endorsement... -Mc

Members MM420
I own both a G2 and an A6. They do NOT sound the same. I perfer the sound of the Andromeda. I like using the A6 as a MIDI sequencer.
