Are you a medical doctor or a doctor of philosophy like me? I shared an office with Jim Demmel for half a year at the IMA when I was a postdoc and he was putting some finishing touches on LAPACK. I swear the guy almost never slept and lived primarily on burned coffee. He told me his PhD adviser had been similarly programmed and slept only in 3 hour cat naps on a cot in his office. It seemed rather unresponsive and buggy, even with a 3GHz Core 2 Duo and 6GB of RAM. Have there been any updates that have improved on this?
