Members Shellshock
Are the two amps similarly voiced for hi gain? ( with the SS rectifier setting )I curious about just the two amps high gain channels with Modern setting. I know the Single it is 50 Watts, so it'll have a little less headroom... and I'm talking about the newer 3 channel Dual Recto for comparison. Members HottKarl
Gain wise, I think they're pretty similar. Many who own the Single have expressed comments that they like the tone better because they can get more power tube distortion with the 50 watter than with the 100 or 150 watt Rectos. That said, I've heard some kick ass, high-gain clips with the Single Recto. Yeah you may not have as much clean headroom or as many features a 3 channel Dual Recto but 50 watts of tube power is still WICKED loud.
Members Shellshock
I've never heard a Single Recto, but I have played both the 2 channel and 3 channel Duals... I'm going to have to make a trip to the local dealer pretty soon and try one out.
Members Dark Angel
My general impression with them is that, on average, the singles are a little warmer, less abrasive in the highs. I'm talking subtleties here. they are the same amp, but one has extra junk. The ones without it that I have tried have, more often, been "desirable" specimens.
