Preferably in the Times Square area... any good ones? Tonight is my last night here and I'm finally able to get some personal stuff done. I'm mainly amp shopping, but want to hit some good stores and try some other stuff out. Thanks in advance.

47th (or 48th cany remember off the top of my head) between 6th and 7th. there ou will find Mannys, Rudys, and Sam Ash. all three stores are increadible, with Mannys being the best. tons of history in there, lots of photos, gear, and memorabilia. one of the best ive ever been to. Rudys is awesome as well. smaller, but some really rare vintage stuff in there. the sam ash is just another sam ash. all 3 stores are right next to each other so going to each one wont be that difficult. Again go in Mannys and you will see what im talking about. Have fun

Don't go to 48th street first!
It's turned into suck-city. Sam-Ash actually owns the Manny's I believe. Both places suck royally.
Go to 30th street guitars (30th between 7th and 8th)...walls lined with great gibsons, great fenders, zvex pedals, all kinds of super cool stuff at great prices and you can haggle. Afterwards you can go to Rudy's on 48th and look at the lawyer and doctor guitars in the cases and laugh at the prices.
Just walked out of 30th Street with a sweet Epi Casino w/ case pretty cheap. My brother got a ZVex Wooly Mammoth 40 bucks less than at Rudy's.

NO reason to go to 48th street.

Recommendation: When you walk into Rudy's, flash some cash FIRST. Then ask to play some of their stuff. I've heard some not so nice things about Rudy's.....I personally did not have the greatest experience in there when I visited.

But they do have some fun stuff in there, FWIW.

the sam ash there is nothing special.....sam ash has gone down the drain recently, rudys is cool....if you want to clear your bank account. Mannys is pretty good but not much more of a selection than sam ash has. Buy your equiptment somewhere else, tax is way to much in NY.

They treated my friend like {censored} till he came to buy a bass with his dad, then he was royalty. They got to play every bass in the store.

Here are some other stores. Take a look at 30th Street Guitars. You could also take a look at Matt Umanov Guitars on Bleeker Street.

I don't know how long you're planning on staying, but another fun activity is Ultrasound Studios to check out some amps. Basically it's a rehearsal studio with a lot of high end amps in each room.

Edit... Oops, it's your last night.
