Matamp 1224/King street opinion please.

Hi all,

 

While i was looking at the Orange RV50 and the Zinky BV50 recently, i realized that for almost the same money i can get a new Matamp 1224 MkII or King Street.

 

Now i know the specs etc, i also know that these amps are made with fine components and use turret boards with chassis mounted pots and valve sockets (plus for me imho).

 

What i dont know is the following.

 

1. Is the master volume as good as in an Orange Rockerverb 50 which is the reference amp for me with respect to low volume appartment practice (EXCELLENT MV)

 

2. Will the Matamps cover Zeppelin, ACDC, Sabbath (with TB pedal), Who, Cream, Doors, GnR ... tones?

 

3. Are they reliable (air travel imminent) and user serviceable in the absence of a good local tech?

 

4. Will they work well with a THD 8ohm hotplate in order to provide power tube saturation etc, at low volumes?
