Members Karma1
I'm looking at getting a Roland SR-JV-80-15 Special FX Expansion Board. I'm pretty sure they are compatible with the JD990 but just wanted to be positive. Can anyone confirm that? Also anybody used one or have any feedback or reviews on it? I do ambient/new age/soundscape type music so it seems like it would a good one for me. I've got the Vintage Synth Expansion board now and there are some great sounds in it, but Special FX seems like it would be a good addition for my studio work, especially for atmospheric sounds, evolving pads, trippy effects, etc.
Members Gaul
Confirmed. All SR-JV80 cards are compatible with JD990. Including Special FX. http://cms.rolandus.com/assets/media/pdf/expansion_board_compatibility_guide.pdf
Members augerinn
Yes, but IIRC, only room for 1.
Members ChristianRock
Yes, only room for one. And the SR-JV80-04 (Vintage Synths) has exclusive patches in the JD990, they don't show up for any other boards, and they don't show up in any other synths where the JV80-04 is used. Having said that, those patches aren't all that great.
