Members Michael Blue
Hey there! Anyone snag a MiniAK yet and have a chance to post their findings? I just found out about these recently, and have only had a few minutes "hands-on" at GC. Seems like nice sounds, interface and features, even without USB. :/ Anyone? Thanks! Members tim gueguen
Since its a repackaged Alesis Micron you can get some idea of what its like by reading things about the Micron.
Members Michael Blue
Yeah, I've read that a few thousand times, but my understanding was that it had more capability than the Micron (more polyphony, more voices, 40-bands on the Vocoder, etc). Even though the Synth engine is the same, it's a different machine, and I wasn't sure if anyone here had bought one yet. Thanks!
Members suitandtieguy
the keyboard is still {censored} like the Micron, but it's got three real wheels, which is nice. also the onboard sequencer is quite different. i'd much rather have one of these than the Micron. How about looking it up? Both have up to 8 voices, up to 1000 programs, 40-bands vocoder and everything else is the same too.

Nope. Same polyphony (8), same voices (8), same vocoder (40-band). http://www.alesis.com/micron http://www.akaipro.com/miniak Go to the Specs tabs on each and play spot-the-differences. You won't find many aside from the obvious (the gooseneck microphone and the presence of the three wheels on the MINIAK, for example). The MINIAK is the same synth in a different case.
